I had to sculpt the head I’m wearing in this portrait because I had a need to. I worked until I felt something and when I saw “her” emerge, I knew I was done. The rest is for the audience to decide. I’m applying my learnings to my current sculpture. My daughter thinks she’s terrifying, but I love her.

I geek out on FEMA’s Incident Command System because I have a need to be prepared. I appreciate and admire the scalable org chart structure laid out in the ICS 100, and thoughtful, universal vocabulary mandated during an emergency. Lessons learned the hard way.
